Green Roof Systems (GRS) applied to LEED designation. Livingarc installs all major green roof systems. This summary guideline does not substitute for LEED rating registration requirements new construction and major rennovations. Potential LEED points are designated as follows: Full Credits - 3 possible points ( whole point credit obtained from suitable green roof installations)
SS 6.1: Storm-water management:1 point - GRS can reduce by 80% SS 6.2: Storm-water design:1 point-GRS filter air born pollutants from rainfall SS 7.2: Heat island effect, roof:1 point-GRS can reduce roof surface temperature by 50F and thermal loading by 75%, benefitting local environment and wildlife. Contributing credits - 20 possible points
SS 5.1: Site Development - protect / restore habitats: points-1 - GRS can provide habitat and promote biodiversity in high-density urban areas with minimal maintenance regionally adapted and native plant species. SS5.2: Site Development - maximize open space: Points: 1 - for urban projects receiving SS 2 credit for development density and community connectivity.
WE 1.1 Water Efficient Landscaping:Points 2 or 4 - maximum credit may be obtained when irrigation is provided for green roof establishment phase from rain collection resevoirs or reclaimed water systems to eliminate potable water use.
MR 4.1 & 4.2: Must contain 7.5% to 15% recycled content - GRs retention panels can be up to 100% recycled post consumer waste. MR 5.1 & 5.2: Must consist of 10% to 20% regional materials. MR 6: Rapidly renewable materials: points 1-GRS include organic mulch derived from plant resources as part of plants, vegetated mats and growing medium layer. The organic component of growing mediums provide 10% to 80% rapidly remewable material.
ID 1.1: Innovation in design: GRS enhance/provide: view stands and sight lines, well being, aesthetics, soial meeting places, educational opportunities and noise reduction.
EA 1.1: Optimize energy performance
RP 1: Regional priority points: 1-4 GRS contribute to regional environmental priorities for LEED-based projects.
